LAWMAKERS URGED TO DESIST FROM TRIBAL TALK AND DIVISIVE POLITICS

Parliamentary Chief Whip Stanford Mulusa has urged members of parliament to desist from tribal talk and divisive politics as tribalism is a danger to national peace and unity.
Addressing the media at parliament today, Mr Mulusa says it is sad that tribal talk has resurfaced with some lawmakers accusing the UPND government of using public institutions to punish people from certain regions in the country.
Mr Mulusa has since proposed for stiffer law that will punish perpetrators of tribalism and divisive politics.
He says tribal remarks being issued by politicians must be condemned by all well-meaning Zambians and urged all opposition political parties to work with government in promoting national unity through the one Zambia one nation motto.
At the same briefing, Chasefu Constituency Independent Member of Parliament Misheck Nyambose stressed on the need for other political leaders to be civil and engage government on how best it can deliver on its promises to the people of Zambia.
