Sunday, 28th October 2018.

Zambia’s Ambassador designate Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to France Dr. Christine Kaseba-SATA has implored the Zambian Community in France to partner with the Mission in promoting Zambia’s Tourism and Investment.

Ambassador Kaseba-Sata said it was imperative that Zambians in the Diaspora continued building the Nation by preaching good about the country.

Ambassador Kaseba-Sata however assured the Zambian Community that the Government had no intensions of leaving the Citizenry behind and hence the establishment of progressive Laws like the Dual Citizenship Law so that they could also participate in the running of the affairs of the Country.

“You cried and the Government heard. Therefore invest back home.” Ambassador Kaseba-SATA said.

The Ambassador cited the Multi Facility Economic Zones (MFEZ) as one of the channels put in place through which Zambians in the Diaspora could invest back home.

Ambassador Kaseba-SATA was speaking last evening at her residence in Paris, France to mark Zambia’s 54th independence Anniversary which was being commemorated under the theme “Celebrating a shared future of unity, development and prosperity.”

And Ambassador Kaseba-SATA said this year’s theme is appropriate as it resonates well with the National Development Vision of transforming the Country into a prosperous middle income Country by 2030.

The Ambassador expressed optimism that Zambia had the potential to increase trade volumes with other nations and hence it was not just the responsibility of Government but also the Citizenry.

“Let us all rise above political, racial inclinations and collectively resolve to achieve that which our fore fathers fought for. Indeed we can make Zambia Green. Therefore it will be cardinal for us to maintain the Unity without leaving anyone behind, in order to achieve our ambitions of Economic Independence.” She added.

The event was well attended and included Ambassadors, Defence Attaches, The Business Community and other dignitaries as well as the Zambian Community some of whom travelled long distances.

Earlier, Ambassador Kaseba-SATA hosted a Business Forum for the French Media, French Travel Agencies, Tour operators and  Airlines servicing routes to Zambia to commemorate the Country’s Independence and later treated them to the Zambian Cuisine.

The Ambassador noted that Government had identified the Tourism, Arts and Cultural Sector as one of the priority growth sector of the National Economy and one of the priorities of Investment.

“The Tourism sector has got the eyes of the government at the highest level and everything is being done by government to make sure that Tourism drives the economy of the Country in collaboration with other sectors such as Agriculture and Mining.” She added.

She further urged the Tour operators not only to partner with the Mission in France in promoting Zambia’s Tourism Potential but also going to Zambia as it would accord them get first hand on spot information about Zambian.
