Kanganja suspends ‘shameful’ cops

CATHERINE MUMBA, Lusaka
THE four police traffic officers who were allegedly caught receiving bribes from motorists on Thursday are a shame and embarrassment to the service, Inspector General of Police Kakoma Kanganja has said.Sergeants Laban Bwalya and Charity Zuze, and constables Moses Chiinga and Mukeya Chibesa, who were found collecting money from motorists on Mungwi Road without issuing receipts for the payments, have been suspended, pending outcome of investigations.
When asked by Lusaka Province Minister Bowman Lusambo where they were taking the money, the officers failed to proffer an explanation.
Mr Kanganja said in a statement yesterday that being law enforcement agents, police officers are expected to be above board because they are mandated to enforce the law with dignity.http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
