Leader of the opposition National Democratic Congress –NDC-, Chishimba Kambwili has refused to give the drug enforcement commission information on allegations that businessman Valden Findlay is using the presidential jet to courier drugs.

Addressing the media this morning after he appeared for questioning at the drug enforcement commission offices, Mr. Kambwili said he opted to remain quiet on the matter as he has lost confidence in the way the commission has handled other matters he brought before them in the past.

Mr. Kambwili further said his decision to remain silent was to protect himself as the commission was only going to use the information against him.

Meanwhile, Drug Enforcement Commission Deputy Public Relations Officer, Kamufisa Manchishi disclosed that the close to 45 minutes interrogation was done within the law and that the commission will undertake an analysis of allegations made by Mr. Kambwili against Mr. Findlay.

Lusaka businessman and President Edgar Lungu’s close associate Valden Findlay last week instructed his lawyers to take necessary legal steps to address drug trafficking allegations leveled against him by Mr. Kambwili.
