IBA cautions media houses

Broadcasting media houses in the Country have been cautioned to exercise prudence in their coverage as campaigns for the August elections heighten.

The Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) is advising broadcasting media houses to keep in mind that they have a role to play in promoting peace during and after the general elections.

IBA Director General Josephine Mapoma has particularly urged these media houses to guard against people seeking unfair advantage during the campaigns.

Mapoma is also advising broadcasting houses to be accurate and stick to the journalism ethics and principles in their coverage.

She has further called on the media houses to use their medium to encourage Zambians to rise above personal interests and avoid violence in the interest of the Country’s unity and peace.
