I Am Not Excited About My Acquittal-GBM

United Party for National Development (UPND) vice president Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba  says he is not excited about his acquittal by the Kitwe Magistrate  Court because he expected it.

Mwamba was arrested last year at the height of the 2016 elections campaigns for allegedly slapping a street vendor and destroying property worth K500.

But when the case came up for judgment this morning, Mwamba was acquitted because the State failed to prove a case against him.

This is the second high profiled judgment delivered in favour of the opposition UPND this period, with Obvious Mwaliteta and others having been acquitted last week.

When reached for a comment, Mwamba said  there is nothing to celebrate about  because he knew that he was innocent from the very beginning.

He said UPND is now used to politically motivated charges engineered by the Patriotic Front(PF).

“Well, it was expected  because I never committed any offence. The Magistrate has just done a right thing,  which he was supposed to do,” Mwamba said, ” This is what is expected from a government that has people who are afraid of their own shadows and have no confidence in themselves. This is what they do.”

Mwamba popularly known as GBM was generous in paying compliments to his lawyers  for putting up a strong defence in the Kitwe Magistrate Court.

“I  have to congratulate my brilliant lawyers  for the job well done.  I thank them for putting up strong submissions that have ultimately  resulted in my acquittal, ” Mwamba said.
