Lusaka (17-06-18) -The Health Professional Council of Zambia has advised the people not to bring confusion and take the law in their own hands when faced with serious confrontations, including mistreatments by health practitioners and advised them to report directly to the HPCZ instead.

HPCZ Registrar Dr Aaron Mujajati told journalists during the launch that the government has given power to the HPCZ not only to regulate the health activities in Zambia but also punish erring medical practitioners.

“For a very long time HPCZ has been distance from the people but  now has decided to come to the people.”

He said his organisation has received the power from the government to oversee the health activities in Zambia.

“With this development, it will ensure that the people not only receive the services and are assured of the continued protection from the association.”

He regretted that some parents send children to school that offer substandard quality because they did not know know the procedure.

“Once the people understand they become part of the team that will regulate the activities and the sensitising exercise will begin with Lusaka and then roll out rest of the country.”

He added that, this will not only be regulating the activities but also monitoring the performance and training of medical practitioners.

He said now that the people know what today when faced with the challenges, they are advised to report suspicion looking clinics and and pharmaceutical activities in their locations.

“With the information the people will be able to help in regulating the health activities in the country.”
