Hichilema kick-start campaigns

Hakainde Hichilema is not giving up at the presidency saying his selling message is the 10 point-plan.

Hichilema who narrowly lost the 2016 elections which he is disputing has had five unsuccessful attempts though he says the main elections he contested is the 2011, 2015 and 2016.

He says the 2006 he only had about 40 days to campaign after the death of his predecessor, Anderson Kambela Mazoka founder of the opposition UPND.

Hichilema says while he was still settling down on the position, then sitting Head of State Levy Patrick Mwanawasa died in August 2008. He explains that these two elections he was not settled.

The UPND wealthy leader refuses that he did not lose the two previous elections in 2015 and 2016 saying that is the reason he is in court and demanding that his election petition be heard.

Hichilema is urging his supporters not to tire saying it’s almost dawn before forming government. He says it’s not a secret that he and his supporters are pushing for a regime change in Zambia via an election.

Today when he met some women from the party Headquarters in Lusaka, Hichilema urged all party members to go flat out mobilising using the 10-point-plan.

He announced that on Sunday he launch card renewal in Lusaka and then move to the Copperbelt on 26th November 2017 for mobilisation and campaigns. He is calling on everyone in the country who believes in his vision to embark on serious party mobilisation activities.

“Our seller still remains the 10 Point Plan. It’s incumbent upon each and every party member to understand the 10 point plan and be able to articulate it,” Hichilema says.

Hichilema seems set for any future election and doesn’t look like one ready to handover the gloves.

On Tuesday, he could not even comment when he was asked on Radio Phoenix if he could back anyone else in the party for the presidency having had five unsuccessful attempts.

Hichilema has been at the helm of the UPND since 2006 when he took over from Mazoka who died in May 2006.

There are however growing demands among his supporters that a Congress be called to replace the leadership that has failed to deliver the party in government. The UPND was founded in 1998 and it contested the 2001 which observers said it won but was robbed.

Then MMD candidate Mwanawasa was declared winner with 27, 000 votes ahead of Mazoka after delaying the announcement for four days.
