Hichilema Evoking Dark Forces With His Black Friday, says Lubinda

given-lubinda1Agriculture Minister Given Lubinda says the death of a United Party for National Development cadre last Friday fits with Hakainde Hichilema’s Armageddon prediction.

Featuring on Radio Phoenix’s Let the People Talk, Lubinda said the August 11 elections may also be a spiritual battle for the country.

Lubinda said Zambians needed to pray against the Armageddon preached by Hichilema as they gear for the August 11 elections.

“Maybe the Armageddon Hakainde warned us is what is currently going on. We need to pray against that Armageddon,” he said.

Lubinda accused advocates of the Black Friday campaign of invoking forces of evil.

“Why Black Friday? It is like you are invoking dark forces. Why invoke forces of darkness in a country that espouses Christianity? Why talk about Armageddon?”

He added: “The fact that Edgar Lungu upheld the declaration of Zambia as a Christian nation seems to anger some people. This election could be a spiritual battle against the forces of dark.”

The UPND has called for a Black Friday campaigning calling on their supporters to adorn black strips in protest of the death of a member of their party last Friday.

Lubinda also built on the theory that the UPND cadre shot last Friday may have been killed by opposition party functionaries and not the police.

“That girl (Mapenzi Chibulo) may not have been shot by the police. Imagine they were taking pictures of her running up to the point she was shot. It raises a lot of questions and there is need for clarity,” he said.

Lubinda also accused Zambian Voice executive director Chilufya Tayali of being frivolous for having labelled him corrupt.

The Agriculture Minister has dragged Tayali to court for his accusation of corruption over the handling of the mealie meal situation in the country.

And Lubinda said Zambia had the cheapest mealie meal in the region and that Zambians should not complain as the commodity was fetching exorbitant prices beyond the borders.

“Zambia has the lowest mealie meal prices in the sub region. We are paying the lowest price for mealie meal at K85 so there is no need to complain,” he said.
