HH shows Amnesty International delegation damage to his house caused by police during his brutal arrest

Zambia’s leading opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema has held private talks with Amnesty International delegation lead by Secretary General Salil Shetty and shown the team the damage done to his house when he was brutally arrested on trumped up treason charges.

The delegation that included Regional Director Deprose Muchena, and Research Consultant for Southern Africa Lloyd Kuveya visited Hichilema’s residence in Lusaka, Tuesday morning.

Hichilema showed the delegation the damage which was done to his house by state police in April when they besieged his residence to arrest him.

The UPND leader held private talks which he says were mutual and centered on a wide range of issues surrounding good governance.

“Issues of human rights, rule of law, constitutionalism, freedom of assembly, fundamental human rights and liberties also did top our private talks,” Hichilema confirmed this on his Facebook page.

“We also showed the delegation how the State Police brutally damaged our house on 10th April, 2017 while forcing their way into our private home. We stated that we have never declined any Police summon and court orders and that the 10th April, 2017 raid by the Police was peculiar and reasons for such an act can only be known by themselves(Police).

Hichilema has however emphasized that he remains committed to ensuring a great Zambia for all.
