HH Refuses To Get In Police Van Soiled With Dog Faeces

INCARCERATED UPND president Hakainde Hichilema this morning refused to get on a police vehicle which was littered with dog faeces. Police have been going to court with German Shepherd dogs to police the court grounds during Hichilema’s treason hearing.
Heavily armed state police and vicious Germany Shepherd dogs surrounded Hichilema and others shortly after he appeared for the alleged treason charge.
But he refused to get on the vehicle after noticing that it was soiled with dog faeces.
His lawyers intervened and this forced police to bring another vehicle to take Hichilema back to Lusaka Central Prison. Magistrate David Simusamba will rule whether the matter should be reffered to the High court or not. Hichilema’s lawyers yesterday rejected the opposition leader’s committal to the High Court.
They said the DPP could not assign another person to sign the committal certificate.
But the state has argued today that the DPP’ s office was on firm ground to have the committal signed by deputy chief state advocate Marriam Matandala.
