HH receives hero’s welcome in Mongu

UPND head honcho Hakainde Hichilema and his deputy were today treated to a thunderous welcome as they arrived in Western Province ahead of Saturday’s Kuomboka Ceremony.

Republican President Edgar Lungu is also expected to grace the event that is being held for the first time in five years.

The opposition leader and his entourage drove through Kaoma town, on his way to Mongu, where thousands of excited resident lined the streets to catch a glimpse of him.

Hichilema, who enjoys massive support in the region as evidenced by results in last year’s elections, got even better reception when he arrived in the provincial capital of Mongu.

The man fondly known as HH later featured on Radio Liseli alongside his vice Mwamba where they discussed various issues affecting the region and the nation as a whole.

Meanwhile, all is set for tomorrow’s Kuomboka Ceremony amid tight security from various security wings deployed to Mongu district.

The move arises from the Barotse Royal Establishment-BRE infighting over the leadership of the current Litunga.

However, regardless of the tension a euphoric Litunga Lubosi Imwiko the Second, emerged from his Palace and conducted a traditional procession called Mawoma sounding war drums to gather his subjects in readiness for the highly anticipated Lozi traditional ceremony tomorrow.

Currently Mongu town appears peaceful and people are going about their daily activities.
