Grant hints on who could play at left back and right back in world Cup qualifiers

Chipolopolo coach Avram Grant has admitted that his squad has a problem in the left back and right back positions.

Grant said during a press conference on Monday that yes he understood that there is a problem in those positions but he was working on a solution.

The gaffer also went on to hint on the possibility of having Tandi Mwape play at right back with Lubambo Musonda at left back.

“Yes we have a problem in the left back and right back position. (Benedict) Chepeshi is injured, Rodrick did not perform and he is not playing for his team. So we will find a solution for the squad. I don’t like the word worried but it gives me a lot of headache to think about,” he said.

“We have had Tandi (Mwape) playing at right back and he has done a good job, at left back Lubambo Musonda is playing there for his club. I must tell you that Kebson (Kamanga) played fantastic in Malawi but since then he has not played for his club hence can’t take players that are not in good shape.”

Zambia will play Morocco in Agadir on June 7th before hosting Tanzania at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on June 11th.

Zambia are currently second in group E after beating Congo Brazzaville 4-2 on Match Day one before losing 2-1 to Niger on Match Day 2.

Winners of each Group will automatically qualify for the FIFA World Cup™ 2026.

The four best runners-up (from the Groups) will play in a CAF Play-Off tournament.

The winner of the CAF Play-Off Tournament will play in the FIFA Play-off Tournament.
