GOVT URGED TO EXPEDITE THE PROCESS OF DISBURSING CDF

The Zambia Council for Social Development -ZCSD- has advised government to expedite the process of disbursing the broadened and enhanced Constituency Development Fund-CDF-.
In an interview with Phoenix News, organization executive director Leah Mitaba says the disbursement process should not delay further than one month especially that the country’s financial calendar commences in January while some of the constituencies have capital projects that require urgent commencement.
The Constituency Development Fund for the year 2022 has been increased from the previous K1.6 million to K25.7 million but government is yet to disburse these resources to designated authorities.
No reason has been given for the delay to disburse the funds although last week, Presidential Spokesperson Anthony Bwalya disclosed that the country will conduct countrywide sensitization programmes on the management of CDF.
