GOVT RELEASES K10M FOR KALABO TRADES

Government has released an additional 10 million Kwacha for the completion of Kalabo Trades Training Institute in Western Province.
Director in charge of vocational education and training Muzano Simumba disclosed this in Kalabo today after inspecting the institute.
Mr. Simumba further disclosed that five million Kwacha will be spent through the Skills Development Fund (SDF) for the procurement of machinery for the workshop, furniture for the administration block and classes at the institution.
He said 750,000 Kwacha has been spent on the construction of gravel roads around the trades school which was undertaken by Zambia National Service -ZNS-.
Mr. Simumba said ZESCO has already erected a power line and that what is remaining is the installation of a transformer.
He reiterated Government’s commitment towards the promotion of skills development in the country.
Mr. Simumba said once the Kalabo Trades Institute is complete by June next year, it will enroll students from several districts such as Sikongo including the neighboring Angola.
Kalabo Trades Institute was constructed by Government in 2014 but due to contractual lapses the contractor H & T Eminence abandoned the works.
Government has however re-negotiated with the contractor who has since returned on site to complete the works which include construction of the water reticulation system.
