GOVT DISBURSES 25 PERCENT OF TOTAL CDF ALLOCATION TO CONSTITUENCIES

Government has since January 2022 released over K1 billion, 4 hundred million for the Constituency Development Fund-CDF, which has since been disbursed to all the 156 constituencies for the Secondary Boarding School and Skills Development Bursaries, Community Projects and empowerment funds.

Addressing the media in Lusaka today, Local Government and Rural Development Minister Garry Nkombo said the disbursed funds represent a 25 percent of the total allocation for the CDF for all the constituencies.

Mr Nkombo explains that so far, 216 community projects have been approved for implementation in 38 constituencies at the estimated cost slightly above K125 million, while over 10 thousand pupils in 88 constituencies have accessed secondary school bursaries at an estimated cost of over K21 million and 6,173 youth in 95 constituencies have accessed skills development bursaries at an estimated cost of slightly over K32 million.

Mr Nkombo says 536 cooperatives consisting of youth, women and vulnerable community members in 10 constituencies have accessed the empowerment grant at an estimated cost of over K10 million.
