Government Will Not Allow Illegal Miners To Benefit From Gold Deposits In North Western Province

Mines Minister Richard Musukwa says government will not allow illegal miners to take over gold deposits in Mwinilunga District of North-Western province.

Government recently suspended all mining exploration activities in Mwinilunga district in North-Western Province following the death of three people after earth collapsed on them while they were digging for gold deposits in Kazenzi area in Chief Chibwika’s area.

In an interview with Phoenix News, Mr. Musukwa says government will ensure that the gold deposits in Mwinilunga district benefits the local people as a priority and the country.

He explains that government will not entertain illegal exploitations of mineral resources adding that government is aware of selfish people that want the gold deposits to be given to them so that they can continue to benefit at the expense of the local poor people.

Mr. Musukwa notes that resources from the gold deposits must be utilized prudently in order to enhance the country`s development agenda.
