Government issues a travel advisory for Zambians wishing to travel to Nigeria

MINISTRY of Home Affairs Spokesperson Nephas Chifuta has cautioned members of the public travelling to Nigeria to exercise security conscious following the heightened attacks by terrorists groups in that country.
And Chifuta says should need arise for any local national to travel to that country,  members of the public should  avoid crowded places  like political meetings,  religious gatherings, markets,  shopping malls,  hotels,  bars, restaurants, and transport husband camps for displaced people.
He advised against all travel to Nigeria particularly to Borno and Yobe States of that country.
“We wish to inform the general public in Zambia that the security situation in the Northeast of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has continued to deteriorate due to escalating terrorist attacks by terrorist groups, especially Boko Haram. The Ministry of Home Affairs advises against all travel to Nigeria.  Most attacks, however, occur in the Northeast, particularly in Borno and Yobe States,” Chifuta said.
He said terrorist attacks tend to be indiscriminate and places frequented by tourists could be targeted.
