Government act to bring sanity in politics

  • ….And Kampyongo warns perpetrators of violence amd crime to watch out

Lusaka (16-10-18) The Ministry of Home Affairs is working with the ministry of justice to actualize article 60 of the constitution that seek to bring sanity in the way politics is conducted Zambia.

Kampyongo who is also chairman for sexurity and youth national chairperson in the ruling PF told journalists at the PF Interactive Forum on Sunday at Chrisma Hotel that article 60 demand that all parties operating in Zambia should have a national characters.

He said the government seek to operationise the article 60 in its quest to make political parties operating comply with the rules of practice and engagement on the political arena.

“Once this article is operations, the government will not take kindly to parties that operate outside the law, including those parties bent on promoting regional politics which is threatening the unit and peace the country has enjoyed this far.”

Under this law, Kampyongo said all parties will not only be required to practice intrparty politics but parties should national character by showing proof that the party in question has representation in all corners of the country.

As a party observation the laws and want to lead by example, Kampyongo explained, the PF is on a mission to rwjuvanate itself via intraparty elections for the purpose of having a national character.

Kampyongo is of the view that the intrparty politics will help to foster unite the party.

Kampyongo expect all party members to respect the rules saying this is what will keep the party united and help win all the future elections.

Further, Kampyongo said the PF is also collaborating with the MMD because the two parties share the same dreams.

He not only mocked the people that called and some have continued to call themselves strategist in PF but claimed that such people does not have what it takes to win an election.

He said the PF under president Lungu PF is completely different and is on a mission not only to restrategise but also rebrand itself ahead of the 2021 election.

He advised the small parties that have ambitions to be presidents in Zambia to consider dissolving themselves and get assimilated into bigger parties.

He said the PF is readily available and two arms open to welcome the people leaving those parties to join the ruling party.

Furthermore, Kampyongo denied the PF is buying people that come to join the ruling party.

He said the people coming to join the ruling party are attracted to the developments taking place in the country as planned in the Seventh National Fevelopment Plan.

Additionally Kampyongo entertsined the idea of limiting the number of time people who contest an election should appear on the ballot paper.

He said when a person lose elections more than once bevomes a danger to national security.

He observed that the people of Zambia are not interested in seeing individuals who have lost elections not once but many times crying foul each time they lose an election.

Meanwhile Kampyongo warned the investors who are in a habbit of arm twisting the government, including threatening to lay off workers each time there is decision made which does not favor their interest saying such investors will be arm twisting government at own peril.

Kampyongo who is also ruling Patriotic Front Chairperson for security and head of national youth said he does not agree with the investors invetors that put conditions on the way of government operations.

‘When investors come in the country to set their investments terms of references are given to them to follow.

“The conditions given to investors are well spelt out on the work permit. The investors interested to work in Zambia have no option but to observed the terms and references religiously.”

In apparent reference to Kalumbila mine that gave a notice of intention to lay off of over 1000 miners, on account of the bill which seek to rise taxes on petroleum products, Kampyongo said the gogovernment will go by the recommenation made by the ministry labour to side with the workers.

Kampyongo also both criticised and warned the Lubambe mines that behaved in the manner suggesting that it was against the introduction new tax regime.

He indicated that at one time Lubamba CEO wrote the DC complaining expressing his displeasure over the government decision to change the face of tax regime from VAT to Sale face.

This act is a sign of insurbonation and soon the government will summon that CEO to show cause why he can not be disciplined for disobedient.

He said the ministry of home affairs is in talks with the ministry if mines to see how best to deal with the CEO.

Further Kampyongo disclosed that the is hundred percent on the path of Zambianisation.

H suggested that the investors coming to work in Zambia should give preference to the local.

He indicated that all investors are required to bring expertise and skills which they will layer transfer to the locals.

The minister also warned the people and organisation planning to stage demonstration against the decision of the concourt in favor president Edgar Lungu.

Kampyongo stated that the PF had always know that president Lungu qualified to run for 2021 election because the period he ruled from January 25, 15 to September 13, 2016 does not constitute a term.

He indicated that the interpretation made by the concourt was meant to deal with the situation of transition Zambia was faced in view of losing sitting presidents.

Twice Zambia lost two sitting presidents and the country did not have the law how to deal with the transition other than the holding the election and the winner sworn in as president.”

He said each the sitting president died, the country would go for a by election where huge sums of money are lost without proper laws on how to manage the the transition.

He said the instability associated with any election has always scared off the would be investors where by some may choose to stay away from investing in the country and when this happen, it affects the national economy.

He said the decision by concourt to set the record straight on how to manage the transition should be respected because it is designed to bring stability in the country.

In the same vain Kampyongo said thwe government is equipping the police with modern skills and equipment to deal with the challenging scene of violence including riotous behaviour.

He said Zambia is not immune to the growing trend in the world where crime has become sophisticated.

He said is only proper that the police mandated to combat crime are equipped with latest equipment and skill to enable them effectively deal wirh the rising crime.

The police are also collaborating with other state agencies to combat the outbreak of false news.

He said explained that there are people who have made it their business spreading false news using the cyber space.

“It is not the intention government to close up the space but it’s mission is to protect the people.”

He added tant the government wants the people to use the cyber space responsibly otherwise, they will be the one to cry foul the government crack the whip.

He warned the people who may want to take advantage of cyber space to commit crime to do so at own peril.
