Five People Die in Three separate Road Traffic Accidents

FIVE people have died on spot while six others sustained injuries in three separate road traffic accidents in Central, Eastern, and Northern Provinces respectively.

Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo has confirmed this to Mwebantu.

The first accident happened on 2nd October, 2016 around 09:00hrs in Central province where three passengers died on the spot after a Toyota Landcruser Prado registration number ALC 1541 which was driven by William Chisenga aged 53 of plot number 9 Kando road Kalingalinga, Lusaka overturned several times along Serenje-Mansa road.

Katongo says the accident happened when the motor vehicle had a tyre burst forcing the driver to lose control of it.

“The three passengers have been identified as Anastazia Banda, Saviour Chanda and Chisenga Chanda who was burnt to ashes while four passengers sustained injuries namely Chrispin Chisenga, Constance Mulonda Chisenga, Matildah Mukuka and male juvenile Jeden Chanda,”says Katongo.

Those injured have since been admitted to Chitambo Hospital.

And the bodies of the deceased have been deposited in Chitambo Hospital Mortuary awaiting Postmortem and burial.

The second accident also happened yesterday on 2nd October, 2016 at around 06:10 hours in Northern province.

“One pedestrian juvenile died on the spot after a Toyota Ipsum registration number AHB 764 which was driven by Geshom Musonda of Mungwi Technical Secondary School hit into the pedestrian due to excessive speed,”she says.

Katongo has identified the pedestrian as female Favor Chilombo Musonda aged four years.

“The accident happened when the said motorist drove the said motor vehicle at a high speed and went to hit the said pedestrian,”she adds.
And the body of the deceased is lying in Mungwi District Hospital Mortuary awaiting Postmortem and burial.

Meanwhile in Eastern province, the accident happened on Saturday 1st October, 2016 at around 16:00 hours.

The accident involved one Zimbabwean National who was also a driver of Man Truck Diesel registration number JKG 263 NW/T 281 BBP who died on the way to Mpashya Mission Hospital while two passengers sustained injuries in Nyimba District along Great East road.

“The tragedy happened when the driver failed to negotiate a curve due to excessive speed and in the process he lost control and overturned in the ditch to the left side of the road,” says Katongo.

The police have identified the deceased as Shepard Bandit of Harare, Zimbambwe while two passengers’ sustained injuries are Mathews Banda and Dominic Mwase.

The two injured passengers have been admitted at Mpashya Mission Hospital.

And the body of the deceased is lying in Nyimba District Hospital Mortuary awaiting Postmortem and burial.
