Find Time For Zambians, Mulongoti Tells Lungu

PEOPLE’S Party leader Mike Mulongoti has urged President Edgar Lungu to find time for Zambians and not those justifying his travels.

Meanwhile, Labour Party leader Fresher Siwale says President Lungu needs to produce evidence to prove that he is not Jonathan Mutaware.

Addressing a press conference in Lusaka also attended by United Progressive People president Saviour Chishimba and Nason Msoni, Mulongoti alleged that the Patriotic Front were faking sympathy towards the traders who lost goods in the gutted Comesa market and Buteko in Mufulira.

He further disagreed with President Lungu’s statement that he would not leave any stone unturned when dealing with matters of fires.

“These leaders of the PF are just shedding crocodile tears; they don’t sympathise with the people. They have their own hidden agenda. They promised to rebuild City Market, what have they done? Nothing. With Buteko and Comesa markets coming on board, there is nothing that will happen. So we don’t agree with President Lungu when he says ‘I will leave no stone unturned’; why hasn’t he done that for City Market and the places where there are problems?” Mulongoti asked.
“If you drive around town, you will see energetic young men running around because the council police are chasing them. One day, they will refuse to run, what do you think is going to happen? I appeal to this government, don’t traumatise our young people, you have failed them, you have not given them employment, you have not given them opportunities, chasing them like thieves is not right at all when you are enjoying the comfort from the State resources.”

He urged President Lungu to find time for the ordinary Zambians and not those who were justifying his travel expenditure.

“President Lungu, find time for your people. Those who are defending your travels, you have now done over 56 trips abroad and Dora Siliya can afford to say that money cannot develop Zambia, does she understand the implications of that? 56 trips of a Head of State surely can go a long way in giving our young people some hope and opportunities,” said Mulongoti.
“Can’t you feel ashamed that we are questioning your identity and you are confirming by your acts; persecuting the indigenous, what are you telling us? The persecution, the cruelty, he has continued now with impunity. How can you treat your citizens like that? You can only do that if you are not one of us.”

And Siwale claimed that Zambia had been led on deceit, lies and trickery for a long time.

“As far as my investigations are concerned, I am seeing two people, Edgar Chagwa Lungu, the father to Tasila, the late, and Jonathan Mutawale Lungu. It’s not enough for him to hide behind taking me to prison, it’s not enough for him to be running around renting relatives. So Mr Lungu, my challenge still stands: produce your national registration card. You are not Edgar Chagwa Lungu but Jonathan Mutaware,” said Siwale, who is currently facing a court process for allegedly defaming President Lungu.
“This country has been led on deceit, lies and trickery. The history of this deceit steps way back to the 60s and the British authority are part to this deceit. We cannot continue with this pattern of deceit. It is only lunatics who repeat the same mistakes and expect different outcomes. Time has come for every Zambian to begin to face the truth. No matter how painful, how much heart-breaking it will cause but let us all embrace it.”
