Find common ground, Phiri urges PF & UPND

Political historian Bizeck Phiri says there is need for the ruling Patriotic Front and the opposition UPND to find common ground ahead of the impending dialogue.

Professor Phiri says the two parties have a key role to play in the dialogue process hence the need for them to find common ground.

He says there is need for the PF and the UPND to embrace a spirit of give and take before dialogue can take place.

He has noted the need to first address all preliminary issues before holding the national dialogue.

Professor Phiri does not think any meaningful dialogue could place without first resolving preliminary issues.

In an interview with Q-News by telephone, Professor Phiri says this means that all preliminary issues that are holding back the dialogue process must be gotten out of the way.

He further states that the contention should not about who should lead the dialogue process or not, but about key stakeholders understanding the role each one of them is to play.
