Felix cleared to play for Buffaloes

By Adrian Mwanza –
FORMER Chipolopolo exciting forward Felix Katongo has finally been cleared to play for Green Buffaloes after his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) to Egyptian side Ittihad Alexandria was revoked.
The ITC was revoked after the Alexandria based club failed to meet some of his contractual obligations.
Buffaloes Chairperson Andrew Siame confirmed the development in Lusaka yesterday and said Katongo would start appearing for the Zambia Army outfit soon.
Siame said Katongo had now been cleared and was just waiting for some paper work to be sorted out and that this should be done by the end of June.
“Yes, I can confirm that the player has been cleared and he will start featuring for the team,” he said.
Katongo’s ITC was revoked after he differed with the Egyptian side that demanded US$700, 000 from the player who ditched the team.
Siame said Katongo’s contract was supposed to end in 2017, but he left after he demanded for his unpaid dues.
“We have resolved the issue with Ittihad Alexandria and very soon, he will start playing for us,” he said.
Siame expressed happiness at the development because Katongo was a good player whose contributions to the club would help in the league title pursuit.
Katongo was part of the Chipolopolo in 2012 that won the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and would be the second player at Green Buffaloes, together with his older brother Christopher, from the AFCON winning team.
