ENGINEERS CALL FOR MORE INFRASTRUCTURE

The Engineering Institution of Zambia -EIZ- has called for massive investment in physical infrastructure and the maintenance of road infrastructure.
The call comes in the wake of the wash away of the Chipata to Lundazi Road over the Msuzi River near Lundazi in Eastern Province.
EIZ says it has learnt with serious concern the wash away of the Chipata to Lundazi Road .
The EIZ says increased investment in the upgrade of the hydraulic structures is the long term solution as most of such structures were constructed many years ago.
EIZ say the need to upgrade the hydraulic structures becomes further critical due  to climate  change .
The Engineering Institution of Zambia-EIZ – is however pleased that the Road Development Agency -RDA  has taken the lead in  reviewing the Design Standards in response to the impact of climate change.
