Electoral Expert Calls For Complete Overhauling Of Zambia’s Electoral System

Electoral Expert Macdonald Chipenzi has called for the complete overhauling of Zambia’s electoral system to accommodate clauses that will prohibit By-elections at local government, parliamentary and presidential levels.

Mr. Chipenzi tells Phoenix News that Zambia has continued losing colossal sums of money through By-elections some of which he says are induced thereby putting pressure on national treasury.

He says reviewing the entire electoral process is the best option for Zambia to avoid continued by elections as witnessed in the country at local government level.

So far, there are a number of pending by-elections at local government level due to the unprecedented resignations of some councilors to either join the PF or the UPND.
