Following a meeting held this morning with leadership of both the PF and UPND, who are the perpetrators of the violence in the presence of the Church, Civil Society Organizations and the Police, the Commission cautioned both political parties and resolved to take drastic action on whichever party breaches the electoral code of conduct.

Addressing the media this afternoon, ECZ Chief Electoral Officer, Patrick Nshindano said the Commission will not relent in ensuring that it fulfills its constitutional mandate of delivering free and fair elections.

Mr. Nshindano adds that the recent political violence in the Kaoma council chairperson by election is regrettable and must be stopped going forward.

Recent by elections have been marred by political violence mainly by the PF and UPND, with lives lost in some cases.
