Divorce dispute involving owner of Juldan Motors takes new twist

The saga surrounding the divorce between owner of Juldan Motors Limited, July Danobo and his wife of 40 years, Zubeida Mulla has taken a fresh twist, with a source revealing to Zambian Eye that the later got more from the divorce settlement than has been reported.

Last month, Mulla disputed a local court judgment that awarded her K20,000 ‘only’ for what she termed as unfair sharing of property as the couple had worked together to acquire their wealth.

Mulla, 62, of Central Street, Chudleigh, Lusaka, married Danobo in 1977 before the couple’s marriage was dissolved by the local court who ordered Danobo to compensate his ex-wife K20,000 to be paid in monthly installments of K1,000. The court further ruled that all property in Mulla’s names was hers and that Danobo should also retain those in his names.

But in her testimony before Magistrate Felix Kaoma, Mulla submitted that it was unfair for the lower court to pass such a judgment as she had contributed greatly to her ex-husband’s wealth.

The case generated huge public interest, with many observers rallying to Mulla’s side, expressing outrage at the ‘meager’ sum awarded to her in the settlement. Some went further to accuse the local court justices of being bribed by Danobo.

But a source close to the family has offered a different version of the story, accusing Mulla of financial impropriety, further revealing that she has since set up a bus company of her own, called ‘Leo Link’.

“The story that was published by the Zambian Watchdog about Mr Juldan`s former wife about local court’s judgment, was just a half-baked story that was aimed at denting the image of the company (Juldan) and the judge,” The source told Zambian Eye.

“The woman has failed to tell the people how she stole money and connived with her children, Nasser Ibrahim and Narji Ibrahim. The woman bought buses and a house near State House at number 18 Limbe Road. She has failed to explain how she was given three flats in Kanyama, five flats in Emmasdale and a K20,000. She also failed to tell the people that despite stealing all these items, Mr Juldan still went ahead and started giving her K10,000 per week through lawyer Nelly Mutti.

“The woman’s buses are operating at Intercity under the name Leo Link in conjunction with the stepson Nasser Ibrahim. Nasser is the stepson Mr Juldan found with this woman at the age of one year and raised him. He is now doing business with the mother. Nasser is a key witness in a case where Mr Juldan is refusing to undress and have sex in the kitchen.”

The source, who declined to be named, further narrated, “Zubeida used to work at a lodge in Chipata, where Mr Juldan booked a room and proposed Zubeida for a day of sex. The following day Mr Juldan left for Zimbabwe via Lusaka. Zubeida followed after few days but when she reached Lusaka, she got stuck and started working for Eagle Travelers as a cleaner.

“When Mr Juldan came from Zimbabwe, that was a chance for Zubeida to start looting from this civilized rich man, bringing witchdoctors from Malawi and changing of shares. Zubeida is more like Monica Lewinsky the richest prostitute in the world.

“The woman in question stole K4.5 million and bought a house in Kabulonga after doing that she lied to the husband that “there’s a family house in Kabulonga, let us go and start staying there” but the man refused, that is how she went alone and started staying there. By then she used to get K10,000 per week so her life was OK, until sometime in 2012 when her children Naji and Nasser Ibrahim, who were still working for Mr juldan, started stealing upon seeing that their mother was not there.

“Nasser had amassed more properties than Mr Juldan and that he has got shares in NPs bus company and he has actually gorged even shares of the company where his stepfather used his name to give 1 percent to Nasser, 1 percent to Raymond and 98percent for him self Mr juldan.

“But he (Nasser) colluded with the people from PACRA to tell his father that in Zambia they don’t allow a foreigner to have majority shares and that is how he tricked Mr Juldan to change the shares. This case is before high court where they are fighting to ask the court to share according to their evil plans.”

The matter continues…
