Diarra, Banda win big ABSA Cup awards 

Red Arrows midfield ace Alassane Diarra was named as the best player of the 2024 edition of the ABSA Cup. 

The Malian midfielder was in brilliant form on Sunday as he helped Red Arrows to a 2-1 win over Kabwe Warriors in the final to clinch their second ABSA Cup title. 

Diara also scored a brilliant goal in tej semi-finals as the Airmen edged Nchanga Rangers 2-1. 

Ricky Banda who scored the quickest goal in this year’s competition (26 seconds) walked away with the golden boot award. 

Banda netted four goals in the Competition, 2 in the round of 16, one against Nchanga Rangers in the semi-finals and the opener in the final. 

Nchanga Rangers Victor Chabu was named as the goalkeeper of the tournament thanks to his heroics. 

He aided Nchanga Rangers to the semi-finals with some fantastic showings which earned him two player of the match accolades. 

The individual accolades were all sponsored by ABSA Bank Zambia sister company, ABSA Life. 

The winners of the tournament, Red Arrows walked away with K800,000 with the runners up Kabwe Warriors getting K350,000.

Player of the tournament- Alassane Diarra K25,000 

Goalkeeper of the tournament – Victor Chabu K25,000 

Runners up; Kabwe Warriors – K350,000
