Delayed Disbursement Of Funds To Higher Learning Institutions Worrying-Sinkamba

Green Party leader Peter Sinkamba is concerned that delayed disbursement of funds has continued to be one of the major challenges facing higher learning institutions in the country.

Mr Sinkamba in an interview with Phoenix News observes that the delay in payment of student allowances and lectures salaries is what leads to protests by students and ultimate closure of higher learning institutions as was the case with the Copperbelt University.

He has therefore indicated that the new higher education minister Brian Mushimba must seek to address this problem because the decision to re-open the Copperbelt University would be meaningless if lecturers and students continue to protest against delayed release of funds.

Mr Sinkamba says the re-opening of the Copperbelt University will not solve the current financial challenges at the university if government does not priotize its funding towards the higher learning institution.
