COUNCIL OF CHIEFS IN SOUTHERN PROVINCE DISTANCE ITSELF FROM CALLS TO GAZETTE SENIOR CHIEF MOONZE AS PARAMOUNT CHIEF OF TONGA LAND

By Mastone Moonze

The Council of Chiefs in Southern Province has distanced itself from calls made by the Lwiindi Gonde traditional ceremony organizing committee requesting government to gazette senior Chief Moonze of Monze District as paramount chief of the Tonga land.

During the official opening of the Lwiindi Gonde traditional ceremony in Monze on Monday, Organizing Committee Chairperson, Patrick Sikawala requested government to gazette chief Moonze as paramount chief of the Tonga land.

But Southern Province Royal Foundation Chairperson Chief Nalubamba says the Council of Chiefs in the region has not had time to discuss issues of who amongst themselves should be installed as paramount chief.

Chief Nalubamba says there are a lot of issues that should be agreed up on by the traditional leaders in the region before choosing a paramount leader of the land.
