Could Avram ‘Grant’ Edward Chilufya his first start at AFCON?

The Zambia National Team will be needing at least a point this evening when they come up against Morocco to ensure their progression to the knockout stages.

Zambia has had a lacklustre start to their campaign in Ivory Coast and face a stern challenge against Africa’s highest ranked side, Morocco.

The Chipolopolo Boys’ strength for a long time has relied on their potent forward with Fashion Sakala Jnr making a big part of that front three.

However, the Saudi Arabia based forward has yet to find his rhythm and with qualification on the line maybe Avram Grant could turn to Edward Chilufya.

‘The Tiger’ has yet to roar at the Senior National team going 648 minutes without a goal contribution.

Chilufya was however very lethal at the U-20 National Team where he netted six goals and made two assists in 11 appearances, one of which came at the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

Chilufya netted four goals as Zambia went on to win the 2017 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations on home soil.

With Fashion yet to hit top gear, Grant could now turn to the Sweden based forward to provide questions for the Atlas Lions defence this evening.

With that said, Grant could still decide to give Fashion Sakala Jnr the node looking at his experience having played twice the number of matches as Edward Chilufya.

Sakala, despite his slow start in San Pedro, has already managed 12 goal contributions in 29 appearances for the Copper Bullets.

The match kicks off at 22:00 hours (Zambian Time) and will be played simultaneously with the DR Congo versus Tanzania.
