Cop Testifies How 7-Year-Old Was Sodomised

A POLICE officer has told a Kitwe Magistrates Court how a 17-year-old girl allegedly conspired with an unknown man to sodomise a seven-year-old-boy.

Sergeant Francis Mutambo narrated that on January 24 this year while on duty at Victim Support Unit (VSU), he received a report of unnatural offence in which a woman reported that her son on January 21 went missing after being invited by his nine year-old friend.

Mr Mutambo of Mindolo police station was testifying before Magistrate Chinundu Chiwaula in a case involving the 17-year-old girl charged with conspiracy to commit a felony.

On January 21, the girl is alleged to have conspired with an unknown person to commit an unnatural act on the boy.

Mr Mutambo testified that a nine-year-old boy invited the victim to Chimwemwe Township where they met the accused juvenile who later boarded a bus with the two boys to town.

He said according to the information he gathered, the three later went to Enlightened Church Gathering (ECG) on Kantanta Street to sell drinking water packed in plastic sachets.

He said during their activity the accused got the boy on pretext that they were going to collect more sachets of water but went across a stream behind the church in a bush.

“Anknown man then followed them and when he reached where they were, the girl forced the boy’s head and neck in her thighs and allowed the man to have sex with him through the anus,” Mr Mutambo said.

The court heard that, after the act, the two went back to the church premises and the boy started complaining about stomach pains.

Mr Mutambo said the accused then bought them scones and a drink before they went back home.

He said the victim went home around 21:00 hours and when the mother asked him where he was, he could not talk, instead he was only sleeping.

“The following day, the mother asked him again and he narrated the whole ordeal and that’s how the matter was reported to the police,” he said.

On checking the boy at the police station, Mr Mutambo said, he saw cuts and bruises in the anus and immediately set out to go and apprehend the girl who sold water in sachets in Chimwemwe.

And another witness, Dr Beverly Chama from Kitwe Teaching Hospital told the court that on the material day he was called in the department of surgery where he attended to a boy who was sodomised.

He said the boy at first glance looked terrified and complained of severe pains on the anus.

The matter comes up on July 30 for judgement and the accused ‘s bond was extended.
