Controversial Amendment Bill Number 10 Of 2019 Likely To Fail

Governance, Elections, Advocacy, Research Services-GEARS- initiative Zambia says the PF government should brace itself for embarrassment because the controversial constitution amendment bill number 10 of 2019 is likely to fail.

GEARS initiative Zambia Executive Director, Mcdonald Chipenzi says the bill is likely to fail because most critical stakeholders have rejected it and it would be shocking if government went ahead with it.

Mr. Chipenzi has told phoenix news that if the PF insists with going ahead with the bill, it will be an embarrassment and waste of resources as was the case with the referendum.

And Mr. Chipenzi has charged that he has information that the PF is planning to buy some opposition members of parliament to support the bill but has assured that this too will not see the bill succeed.

He has since appealed to all members of parliament who are against the bill to walk out of the house so that those who will be compromised will be seen.

Several stakeholders including the Zambia congress of trade unions have called for the withdrawal of the bill to allow for more consultations.
