Church Wants Govt To Update The Nation On Progress Made On Review Of Comprehensive Sexuality Education Framework

By Michael Kaluba

The Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia -EFZ- has lamented the lack of progress towards constituting a multi-sectoral technical working group to review the Comprehensive Sexuality Education -CSE- framework and has written to the United Nations expressing their concerns.

EFZ Acting Executive Director Bishop Andrew Mwenda has challenged the government to update the nation on the progress made so far further alleging that the state has no interest in reviewing comprehensive sexuality education because it already established itself with donors.

Bishop Mwenda says the lack of seriousness by the regime is suspicious and has since called on citizens to question the government arguing that CSE is currently being implemented in schools without consensus among stakeholders.

He has also disclosed that while the petition of signatures collected by EFZ is in place, it has not been presented to the government in preference for dialogue which has not been forthcoming.

In October last year, Vice President Inonge Wina disclosed that the government had intentions to constitute a multi-sectoral technical working group to review the Comprehensive Sexuality Education -CSE- framework and curriculum before it was implemented in schools across the country.
