Chipenzi: August Elections Was a Comedy Of Errors

Electoral expert McDonald Chipenzi has described the entire post election period as an electoral comedy.

Mr. Chipenzi says the Constitutional Court’s shifting of positions on the presidential petition before finally dismissing it, amounts to a comedy of errors and an assault on democracy and electoral justice in Zambia.
He says Zambia has lost an opportunity to dispense electoral justice and set an example to other countries not only in the region but the world at large.
Mr. Chipenzi says no one person will believe the impartiality of the Constitutional Court judges and the court as whole in the manner they handled the petition.
He says the conflicting decisions the court made throughout the petition period exhibited a cadre of men and women who seemed not to understand their work.
Mr. Chipenzi says it is therefore, difficult to appreciate the final decision of the court.
