Chipata Hospital Denies Shortage Of Drugs At Institution

Authorities at Chipata Central Hospital have dismissed reports that the health facility has been hit by shortage of drugs.

Medical Superintendent Dr. Mbinga Mbinga says that the hospital recently received a new consignment of drugs from medical stores.

Dr. Mbinga was responding to complaints that some people who visited the hospital this week were told at the pharmacy that the health facility has run out of drugs like Amoxcil, Ethromycin and Pen V Syrup.

The residents wondered why doctors were prescribing drugs which are not in stock.

But Dr. Mbinga says that while it is true that the hospital does not have Amoxcil, it has a substitute drug called cesalxin, which is equally effective.

Dr. Mbinga says that apart from Amoxcil, all the remaining essential drugs are available.

He has advised people, who seek treatment at the hospital and are not satisfied with the service, to utilize the Complaints Box or seek an audience with the hospital administrator and himself.
