Cavmont Bank celebrates women in sports and renews its commitment to support the development of Netball in Zambia

CAVMONT Bank announced today that it will continue its commitment to support the Zambia National Netball Team. The bank has been the main and consistent corporate sponsor of the national team providing over K100, 000.00 of sponsorship over the last two years. The Zambia National team is currently ranked no.17 on the International Netball Federation (INF) World Cup rankings.The announcement was made during the semi- finals of the 2018 African Netball Championship, which also doubled up as the Netball World Cup 2019 Regional Qualifier currently taking place in Lusaka at the Olympic Youth Development Centre. Cavmont Bank is also a main sponsor of the event, providing K35, 000.00 for the tournament alone.Cavmont’s Community Support and Investment programme focusses on Youth, Women Empowerment and education. The Netball is a minor sport in Zambia and as such doesn’t receive as much funding as main stream sports like football. Cavmont came in two years ago and since then the partnership with the team has become even stronger, with the team growing from strength to strength.Zambia is currently in 3rd Position in the Africa Netball Cup. Only the top two placed teams will advance to next year’s World Cup, as it stands Uganda and Zambia currently occupy those positions, but Zambia could still stand a chance if it beats Uganda in today’s game.Chilunga Chill Puta Dunham, Head of Communication and Customer Service said:“We are thrilled to continue supporting the Zambia Netball Team during this time and even more excited that we could be a part of the Africa Netball World Cup Qualifiers right here in Lusaka. Thank you for making a difference in the girl child.”The Africa Netball Cup is taking place in Lusaka from 13th -18th August 2018 at the Olympic Youth Development Centre, and doubles up as the Netball World Cup 2019 Regional Qualifier –Africa.The Netball World Cup (NWC), previously known as the World Netball Championships, brings together the world’s top teams and represents netball’s flagship event.INF Congress is also held alongside the event providing a global forum for Netball nations to come together, to innovate, share ideas and celebrate women in sport.
