Captain-like MP sharpens his ‘Iron’

STAFRANCE ZULU, Ndola
NDOLA-BASED gospel singer Paul Tembo aka MP Nankwe Nankwe on Sunday launched his fourth studio album titled “Iron Sharpens Iron” at a concert held at the Broadway Cinema Hall in Ndola.
Clad in an outfit that could pass for a captain of the ship, Paul Tembo was certainly up for the day’s work.
The show, which was well-attended, was scheduled to run from 14:00 hours to 21:00 hours and ran within the time which afforded children to stay on until the end.
But Paul himself only went on stage towards 20:00 hours. Backed by his son Joshua, he churned out songs from his new album such as “Elubuto”, “Ba Yaweh”, “Nimikonda”, “Tente” and the more popular “Iron”.
Paul debuted with the album “Just Believe”, then followed it up with “Lesa Waluse” before releasing “Ifisabo”.
At the launch of his fourth album at Broadway, he was supported by Manasseh, Chifundo, Petershakes, Kings Malembe Malembe and Christine.
Manasseh, who was known as MKV when he used to sing secular music, impressed revellers with his presence on stage.
The Ndola-based Chifundo, a familiar face and voice to the audience, performed a few songs which included “Mundwile”.
But Kings Malembe Malembe and Christine chose to take to the stage just after MP. Apart from being crowd pullers at the event, they helped MP with the auctioning of the CDs.
There was also Francis, who fascinated the audience with his lamentations in Lingala before it was left to Petershakes to wind up the show in style. Known for his dancing prowess, he lived up to what he is known for.
