CALL FOR ZAMBIA TO WITHDRAW FROM IMF PROGRAM

Patriots for Economic Progress-PEP- President Sean Tembo is calling for the withdrawal of Zambia from the International Monetary Fund-IMF- program so that the country can begin to implement home-grown economic policies.

Mr. Tembo says this is the only solution to the country`s ever deteriorating economic situation as IMF policies and conditions such as monthly review of fuel prices are destructive to the economy.

He notes that the route taken by government is not bearing any fruits as evidenced by the volatility in the exchange rate and high cost of living among others.

Mr. Tembo, in an interview with Phoenix News has reiterated that economic fundamentals on the ground do not point to any recovery path which is now being noticed by many non-political actors.
