Call For Zambia To Prepare Storage Facilities For Covid-19 Vaccines

By Tinkerbel Mwila

Pharmaceutical Expert Jerome Kanyika says Zambia’s storage facilities are incapable of storing covid19 vaccines expected to be received next month.

Mr. Kanyika observes that current storage facilities can only store up to – 10°c while the modern vaccine for covid-19 requires the storage or shipping temperature of between – 60 to – 80°c which Zambia does not have the capacity.

He has since advised the government to develop and prepare storage facilities which will prevent the vaccine from going to waste.

Meanwhile, Mr. Kanyika has urged the public to continue adhering to Covid-19 guidelines such as masking-up, social distancing among others to avoid spreading the virus.

Recently the government announced that Zambia is likely to receive the first consignment of coronavirus vaccine by next month.
