By-election in Munali as ConCourt confirms nullification of Luo’s election

The Constitutional Court has upheld the High Court ruling which nullified Higher Education Minister Nkandu Luo’s election as Munali member of parliament on grounds of electoral malpractice.

This means that Professor Luo effectively loses her ministerial position and a by-election will be held in Munali Constituency in 90 days time.

Professor Luo had arrived at the Supreme Court grounds in a ministerial vehicle but was driven away in a private vehicle after the court ruling, signifying the abrupt and ignominious end to in President Edgar Lungu’s administration.
