Former US president Barack Obama and his wife Michelle have invited local musician B’Flow to the launch of their foundation in Chicago.

An excited B-Flow announced his invitation on his Facebook page, posting: “44th President of the United States Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama have launched The Obama Foundation in their hometown of Chicago. Guess which African artist they have invited again! The answer is B’Flow a.k.a Junior Obama.”

The artiste whose birth name is Brian Bwembya said he was excited with the invitation for the occasion set for Chicago, saying it symbolised the strength of their partnership, which started while Obama was in the White House.

“I’m thrilled to announce that Mr and Mrs Obama have invited me to Chicago! I thank God that since 2015, our partnership has grown and the Obamas are still supporting my work in various ways,” stated B-Flow. “During my time in Chicago, I will attend the first ever #ObamaSummit. I’m always happy to represent the African continent on a global scale.”

In August 2015, B’Flow was given special recognition by then President Obama when delivering his speech to the 2015 Mandela Leadership Fellows in Washington, D.C.

“And I know you’ve been busy, over the past few weeks at schools and businesses all across America. You’ve been taking courses, developing the skills you need to make your ideas a reality, so that you can continue to do the great work that you’ve already been doing and to take it to the next level. That’s what Brian Bwembya of Zambia plans to do, where is Brian? Where is he ? there he is right there,” said President Obama as a visibility elated B’Flow stood up to loud cheers from the audience.

“So Brian uses music to advocate against things like gender-based violence and educate youths on H.I.V/AIDS. While in the US he has learnt about our health care system, met the Founder of the American H.I.V Organisation and now he plans to start a record label for music about social change. So Brian we are proud to be your partner,” President Obama told a packed audience.
