Bars And Nightclub Owners Will Not Accept Plans To Close Down Due To Surge In Covid-19 Cases

By Tinkerbel Mwila

The Bars and Nightclub Owners Association has expressed fear that the surge in covid-19 cases may lead to the closure of bars.

Zambia yesterday crossed the 100,000 marks after recording 738 new covid-19 cases, bringing the cumulative number of confirmed cases recorded to date to 100,278.

Commenting on the development, Bars and Nightclub Owners Association Secretary-General Edmond Lifwekelo says that the association will not allow a situation where there is an operational shutdown without any financial relief from the government.

Mr. Lifwekelo has stressed the need for mutual engagements before the government decides to take any action because, without consensus, the association members will resist any decision taken to disadvantage them.
