Foundation for Democratic Process (FODEP) Executive Director, Mweenge Chimfwembe has called on President Edgar Lungu to address electoral bodies in the region as he assumes chairmanship of the SADC organ on tax, defence and security operations.

Mr. Chimfwembe is concerned that stakeholders have lost confidence in the electoral bodies in the region as evidenced by the court challenge to election results by opposition political parties in Angola, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

He says these trends speak volumes on the need for President Lungu to ensure that the lacunas in the electoral bodies are addressed.

Mr. Chimfwembe has advised President Lungu to rise to the occasion by showing leadership amid the growing political tension in the Southern Region.

Meanwhile Mr Chimfwembe says while the task that has been bestowed on President Lungu is huge, he believes he will deliver according to the expectations of SADC members states.
