Pres. Lungu Declares Day of National Mourning for SA Accident Victims

President of the Republic of Zambia, His Excellency Edgar Chagwa Lungu has mourned the death of eleven people on a bus accident in South Africa.

And President Edgar Lungu has sent a Zambia Air Force (ZAF) Plane to transport the bodies accompanied by family members from South Africa to Ndola and Lusaka for funeral and burial.’

Meanwhile President Lungu has declared a day of national mourning in honour of the victims.

Details of the day of national mourning will be communicated by the Secretary to the Cabinet.

President Lungu Wrote;

“I am deeply saddened at the death of eleven people following a fatal Road Accident in Mokopane, Limpopo Province in South Africa  on Monday 17th September 2018”

“The accident involved Royal Bus Service which was traveling from Kitwe to Johannesburg, when it suffered a tyre burst and lost control.”

“We are happy that the Zambian Mission in Pretoria, the Zambia Airforce (ZAF) and the South African Government have coordinated well in  efforts to care for those injured and still admitted to hospital along with those that will be repatriated on Sunday 23rd September 2018 to Ndola and Lusaka.”

“On behalf of the government and the nation at large, let me convey our sincere condolences to the bereaved families and wish those injured, a quick recovery.”

“May God lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.”

“Thank you.”
