388,442 MAKE THE CUT FOR GRADE 8

Three hundred and eighty-eight thousand, four hundred and forty-two Grade Seven candidates have been selected to Grade eight. 388,442
This is out of the four hundred and 43 thousand, seven hundred candidates that sat for 2018 Examinations.
The results represent a One Hundred percent pass rate from 99.14 percent in 2017.
And Minister of General Education David Mabumba says the improvement in national progression rate is an indication that school places have been created at secondary school level.
Mr. Mabumba has also disclosed that a total of One Hundred and eleven candidates from St Jeff college Primary School of South Africa sat for the Examination Council of Zambia examinations for the first time.
Meanwhile, Mr. Mabumba has explained that at Grade seven level there were no leakages recorded despite the suspension that was done to the entire 2018 examinations.
The Minister was speaking this morning in Lusaka when he announced the results.
Mr Mabumba has however expressed concern that 55 thousand pupils were absent from the examinations.
He has called for concerted efforts from all stakeholders to double efforts in championing the education for girls.
This is in view that boys performed better than girls in all subjects except English.
And Examinations Council of Zambia -ECZ Director, Michael Chilala said participation of the South African School is a sign that Zambia is running credible examinations.
