Minister of Energy Mathew Nkhuwa says 10 million liters of diesel procured under the US$20 million Saudi Arabia loan facility has arrived at the government depot in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Mr. Nkhuwa says another consignment of 699, 222. 88 liters of petrol is in transit.

In a ministerial statement in Parliament, Mr. Nkhuwa says this leaves a balance of 5.3 million liters of diesel and 14.6 million liters of petrol yet to be delivered.

He states that government will incur all costs of transporting the fuel from the port of Dar es Salaam to Zambia.

He has explained that the US$20 million Saudi Arabia loan does not include logistics of transporting the fuel from the port of Dar es Salaam to Zambia.

Mr. Nkhuwa ,however, states that the loan is a rollover and that once the consignment is finished government may ask for another loan.

He says government is also thinking of negotiating for a much bigger loan given the short period of time the fuel purchase from a US$20 million loan has lasted.
