ZRL ENGAGES COOPERATIVES TO MAINTAIN TRACKS

Zambia Railways has engaged twelve cooperatives along the line of rail to maintain the railway track.
Zambia Railways Board chairperson Lubinda Linyama says through the Cooperatives, 3- hundred and 65 people have been employed.
Mr. Linyama says Cooperatives have been given full responsibility to maintain the railway track at a cost effective and efficient manner.
He was speaking at a media briefing in Lusaka today.
And Mr. Linyama said engaging Cooperatives is a cost reduction measure as in the past the company used to involve contractors to provide Labour for maintenance of the railway tracks.
He further said the company has so far moved Seven hundred and 90 thousand metric tons of Cargo from January to date.
