ZRA, RTSA STAMP AUTHORITY

The Zambia Revenue Authority-ZRA- and the Road Transport and Safety Agency-RTSA have stiffened measures to avoid tax evasion by those importing motor vehicles without paying Advance Income Tax -AIT- by using other people’s Tax Payer Identification Numbers-TPIN
RTSA will only allow the registration of vehicles upon production of the TPIN that was used during the importation of the vehicle.
Only official registered car dealers with clean tax accounts will be exempted.
Further steps have been taken to curb the abuse of rebates under the duty-free importation arrangement for persons with disabilities.
ZRA Commissioner General Kingsley Chanda says this is part of the continued Joint operations to address tax evasion in the importation of motor vehicles.
And RTSA Chief Executive Officer, Zindaba Soko says the Agency will not tolerate tax evaders using other people’s TPIN Numbers during the importation of vehicles.
This is contained in a joint statement issued to ZNBC News in Lusaka by ZRA -Corporate Communications Manager Topsy Sikalinda and RTSA-  Head of  Public Relations  Fredrick Mubanga.
