ZRA DONATES TO KAPIRI ORGANISATIONS

By Chansa Kunda- The Zambia Revenue Authority -ZRA- has donated 86 vehicles to 14 organisations in Kapiri Mposhi in a bid to improve service delivery.

ZRA Commissioner General Kingsley Chanda says the donation is in line with the approval by the Ministry of Finance to give forfeited goods in accordance with the laws of Zambia.

Mr. Chanda says the Zambia Police service has been allocated 17 motor vehicles and 7 motor bikes in order to execute its duties efficiently.

The Commissioner General said this in a speech read on his behalf by ZRA Corporate Communications Manager Topsy Sikalinda during the donation held at the Kapiri Mposhi customs enforcement center today.

And Mr. Chanda said the enforcement center was used so that the public can appreciate strides being made in curbing the smuggling of goods along the Lusaka- Nakonde road.

He said ZRA will soon start impounding illegally imported vehicles once the amnesty comes to an end next month.

Mr. Chanda said once the amnesty ends, the authority will work in collaboration with the security wings to ensure that the nation has no illegally imported vehicles on the roads.

And Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Zambia Police Kapiri Mposhi district headquarters Commanding Officer Brightson Mwape said the gesture will help the police service carry out its mandate without facing transport challenges.

Mr. Mwape has since thanked Government, adding that the vehicles will be put to good use.
